How do you record from 8mm camcorder tape to DVD?

How do you convert an 8mm camcorder tape into a digital file (DVD)?

  • What is the best way to convert an 8mm tape to any digital format?

  • Answer:

You will need whatever wire your camcorder port handles, most likely firewire. You have to turn your camera on with the tape in it and plug it into the computer with a firewire or other wire and open a Video Capturing program such as nero and capture the video into the program which will save it as an avi or mpeg on your computer. Then you can use a freeware program like super by erightsoft to convert it to whatever type of file you want.

connect vcam to an analog/digital capture device like Dazzle or tv/tuner/capture card attached to a pc. Capture resulting 'digitized' video stream while vcam is on playback via Video Editing Program

same thing the guy above said.. Also, make sure you have enough space on your harddrive(s). Learning from experience and doing this stuff in school, it becomes frustrating having to work hard on something only to realize there isnt enough space to finish.
