How to use handycam as a web cam?

I was wondering if you could use a sony handycam as a web cam?

    hi yes you can but only if you have the right wires, hardware and software i did it with my sony handycam years ago on older pc. connect the yellow analog video wire (or S-Video) to the relavent socket in the TV/Video card at the back of your pc (if you have one). then try out your webcam software (i was using msn messenger which let you choose where you wanted to import the video from) but this was few years ago so not done it recently. things change. then all you need to do is make sure the camcorder doesnt go onto stanby which you'll have to flip through the settings etc hope this helps Rick

I used to use my Sony as a webcam but it was fiddly & I had to switch it to "Record" which filled up the tape which I then had to erase after each time I used it. I suggest that you buy a proper webcam, they are under a tenner in Argos or Tesco & come with the software so buy the right tool for the job.
