What is a good video camera for short films?

I'm want to make professional looking short films with a cheap video camera. What is the best one under $500?

    Please set your expectations. There are many reasons "professional" camcorders start at about $3,000. If anything, the pros are VERY interested in not having to spend money. This is their livelihood. Every extra dime is scrutinized. If they could use a $500 consumer-grade camcorder, they would. Video is only one piece of the system. What are your plans for Audio? Mics? Audio field recorder? Lights? Triopod or other steadying devices (monopod, shoulder mount, camera crane, auotmobile mount, etc...) Surely you are not expecting to shoot handheld. Good luck...

Sanyo VPC-FH1 (it's for $409 in amazon) But if you needed 24 frame rate for that "more like a film" motion appearance go up a little bit and buy a canon camcorder.
