How do I burn Camcorder Video without a PC?

Can I transfer video from my camcorder directly to my PC?

  • I have a hybrid camcorder, i have taken videos using the hard drive on the camera i don't want to burn it onto the DVD (HDD) because i need to edit the video using my PC. I try connecting the camera and my PC with a USB cable but everytime i open the cameras folder nothing appears. Im sure the files are there but how can i access the files on the cameras hard drive to save them on my PC. or what if i burn the cameras hard drive videos directly to the DVD (HDD) can i place the DVD in my computer and get the files from the burned DVD?

  • Answer:

Tell us more about the brand, model of your camcorder will help. Look pretty good from the spec. Since you are certain the movies are recorded onto the hard disk drive. 1) Check to see what "file extension" it uses for the file, e.g. avi, mov or mpg. etc. Select file type to "show" on your file folder from the list. Here's something you need to try next: 1) Have you try to re-install the software onto your PC? 2) Is your Operating System compatible with the software? 3) Do you need a software upgrade? Are you switching it to playback mode when you connect it to your PC? You need to do this so that windows can detect it and install the driver, then it should be easy to import your video. Use a good editing programme & go to the "Capture" mode, then you should have no problem transferring your clips to the computer. You can also import the folder on the DVD, open the DVD to view files & drag & drop the folders into your documents/video folder.then you will be able to find it easily.

usb will not pass video info because usb is too slow transfer rate you need to use firewire if your comp has firewire input if not, you could install firewire card in your comp or you could burn hdd vids to dvd and just play the dvd in your comp... use whatever program to rip to your comp and edit
