How can I put VHS videos onto my computer?

I have an old Quasar Palmcorder with VHS-C tapes. I want to upload the video onto my computer. No USB slot on?

  • The Palmcorder has an AV output hole that earphones fit in that also hooks it up to the TV to watch, or the VCR to record onto bigger VHS tapes. The back of my computer has no corresponding input hole. There is no place on the Palmcorder to plug in a USB cord. I thought of trying to record the VHS-C onto a disk with my DVD player, but the DVD player does not record. I can't spend a lot of money on this right now, but I'd really like to find a way to get my videos onto my computer, and if possible, converted to digital. Is this possible? I want to put my videos on Facebook, and to be able to edit them, but this palmcorder is a little out of date.

  • Answer:

VHS-and VHS-c are analog. You need a "capture card" or "analog/digital converter". I like the converters from Canopus - I own/use a ADVC110. Your computer needs a firewire port. If your computer does not have a firewire/1394 port or if you are unwilling or unable to get a firewire wire port on your computer, then there are a few USB based video converters... **If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder… You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert. **Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape

the best way is with a digital signage media system. check them out at gadgetronx.com and make sure to ask the staff how to use it. i can't mention the specifics here in yahoo because it might be against the rules, but i know for sure this is what you need. i use it with all video machines and it converts movies direct to digital data and allows you to put the movies on your computer and onto flash disk or thumb drives for portability. http://www.gadgetronx.com/products.php?cat=1 hit contact when you get on their site and feel free to ask your question as plainly as you have done it here. good luck and hope they get you sorted.
