I see that In a previous question, you mention a Panasonic MiniDV camcorder. Are you SURE there's no FireWire? A FireWire port will sometimes be labeled iLink, IEEE1394, or DV. My Panasonic PV-GS65 labels it "DV," and it's a 4-pin FireWire port. Check again. Digital camcorders have digital ports. If you're not talking about your MiniDV camcorder, It's probably an analog format. If so, you would need a converter, such as the ADS Pyro A/V Link. This worked for me when I was using analog video, such as Hi8 or VHS. You would still need a FireWire card for the computer. The ADS Pyro card is an example. Total cost would probably be over $100 USD, but at least it'll get you up and running for digital video on your computer, no matter what format you're coming from. EDIT: The DV terminal on your camera IS a FireWire port. Is it the smaller (4-pin) kind, shaped like a rectangle with a little indentation on one of the long sides, or is it a larger (6-pin) kind, which is more like a pentagon? My guess is that the camcorder has a 4-pin port (check to make sure, because I couldn't find anything for your model number). So, get a card for your computer, it'll likely have one or more 6-pin ports. Then, get a cable that will connect the two ports to each other (probably a cable with a 4-pin tip on one end, and a 6-pin tip on the other). Any other questions, ask! Hope this helps!

you need to get something called a VIVO card (video in video out) which allows you to connect those composite connectors (red, yellow and white). VIVO cards can be bought as part of a graphics card OR standalone for video sourcing and editing brands such as Pinnacle!

repost this and tell us the name and model of your camcorder. Do you know if it's analog? How old is it? Does it record to DVD?

Firewire cards are very easy to install. You will also need to purchase a firewire cord. The sales clerk will probably be able to guide you.
