How do I finalize a DVD in my camcorder?

Camcorder won't let me finalize disk.?

  • I have a Canon DC311 DVD camcorder. I recorded some footage which was just over 10 mins long. The DVD in the camcorder is supposed to record 30 minutes worth of footage, but I had it on a high quality setting which means there's less time on the disc. I wanted to finalize the disc so I could put the footage I took onto my computer. However, the camcorder wouldn't let me finalize it. The 'finalize' option is just black and I can't select it. This is a new disk which I haven't used or finalized before. I thought it might be because I hadn't used all the disk, so I recorded a futher 5/10 minutes footage until the disk was full, but it still wouldn't let me finalize it. Please help.

    you cannot finalize a disc unless the camcorder is connected to power, also did you format the disc first for later use in a DVD player?
