HOW TO GET VIDEO OFF CAMCORDER?

I have this camcorder that I have no clue on how to get the video off of. It uses tape and I don't really know what to do about that. Is there any way I can get the video off of the tape? Is there like a thing that I can put the tape in and plug into my computer and it will put it on there? I want this video on my computer. It's a Hi8 (analog) camcorder but there are some Digital8 (digital) camcorders that can read the tapes. Have a look at Sony's TRV range. The advantage of these is that you'd get the best video quality. You'd be capturing the video via firewire - if your PC hasn't already got one you'd need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'd also need a firewire cable. Alternatively, you'll need an analog / digital converter. Some MiniDV/Digital8 camcorders have a passthrough feature which will do this - you connect the AV sockets on the camcorders and plug the MiniDV camcorder into the PC's firewire port. Failing that, you could try a dedicated converter such as the Kworld DVD Maker, the Pinnacle Dazzle or a generic model you can get it most electronics shops. If you want the best quality from an A/D converter, have a look at the Canopus ADVC range.
