How can I connect a camcorder to my laptop?

My laptop doesn't have a Firewire port to connect to. And I have no idea what to do!! My camcorder is a JVC miniDV. My computer is a Windows Vista (Gateway).. And I can't find a cord that can hook up to both my camera and computer via USB..
Answer:

Minidv requires a firewire connection. You can't use a USB connection. Anything you find that might say firewire to usb, isn't goig to work.

USB will not work. The transfer rate with USB is not fast enough for the real time transfer of miniDV video. You need a firewire cable and firewire port on your computer. Another option is to use a video transfer service. stashSpace will transfer your tape for you, costs $7
