Hello Johnny; I am confused by the question ... I don't know much about camcorders ... but it looks like you are using a lot of separate devices. It could be that you don't have the camera driver installed on the new laptop? When you plug your camera directly in to the computer ... I assume you are using a USB connection ... the computer should sense that a device has been added. Look for it with windows explorer as a new drive. Lets say that doesn't work ... does the camera record to a card or is it a disk or a tape ... if it is a disk then try playing it in the disk drive ... if it is a card then you might have to find a card reader somewhere. If it is on tape then you might check to see you can make it work with another computer. Don't worry too much about the DVD burner right now. Once you get the video off the camera -- then you can worry about how to burn it to disk. Simplify the problem down -- and you should be able to figure what is not working correctly. Best advice I can give ... Bill P.S, You might want to re-read the instructions.

I am having the same problem with my camcorder on my laptops. It works fine in my old dell- but is too slow and locks up. When I use it in my laptop it gives me an unidentified usb, and when I look for it in my system devices it shows up as a mass storage device. So I tried to manually install the driver, but hitachi isn't on the drop down list. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
