What's better a DV camcorder or a DVD camcorder?

Well, this is an opinion. You decide which you think is better.

The DV is better. The DV format is uncompressed so will xfer to your computer in its original high quality. You can then edit it and burn to a cd or dvd in any format or quality that you desire. In its original form you will put approx 30 mins of high quality film on to a DVD. The DVD type camera will compress your film down to dvd quality and will give you various qualities dependent on your pre set selction which means already you have lost some quality in doing this. As in all things there are provisos. All camcorders can vary in its recorded quality. Depends how much you are prepared to pay. Read reviews in magazines or internet search engines to help you make a decision.

I had a Mini DV camcorder first and Now I bought a DVD camcrder. I think DVD is better. First of all, you can gt 6 Rewritable DVDs for about $15 from ebay, etc. You can keep recording on them forever. The quality of a DVD camcorder is better than cassete. The DVD is the newer technology. If you want to sell it after using it, its resale value will be much higher than cassette. I sold my 1 year old sony mini DV camcorder for only $89. Thats how much the value is. The DVD camcorders are built with better quality because they are newer. Another tip, buy the Sony Brand if you can. I have a SONY and its awesome. Just buy a DVD cam, you wont regret it, BELIeVE ME!!!
