Can a camcorder take pictures?

How can I take pictures with my sony dcr hc 62 camcorder?

  • I know the quality will be low but I still want to try it out. I'm not sure if to use Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick Pro Duo as the manual says to use Memory Stick Duo but the internet says to use Memory Stick Pro Duo and the camcorder itself has a Memory Stick Pro Duo sticker. Do I need an adaptor? I have an express card slot in my toshiba a305d laptop but can I transfer the pictures from the camcorder using a USB cable? Thanks in advance for your advice!

  • Answer:

Since you have the manual - but - just in case: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DCRHC62 See page 18 on the right under the "Memory Stick Duo" heading. You can use either Pro or not. Also refer to page 80 under "Types of memory stick". You can transfer stills from the memory stick using the included USB cable connecting the camcorder's USB port to the camcorder's USB port. An adapter is not needed - though you may find a USB-connected card reader to be a handy investment because they can do multiple different flash memory cards. You do not need the Sony-provided bundled software.
