Is there any way to put video from a digital camcorder?

    There are many programs (usually one included with camcorder) that all you have to do is plug your camcorder in to your computer with the supplied cable (typically USB) and through the program you can access your camcorder and then play your movie while your computer captures the movie. These programs will (typically) allow you to edit your movies once they are downloaded as well. I personally use Windows Movie Maker, and it work decent for me. Good Luck.

The best way to get your video onto your pc is using a firewire card. USB and other methods tend to lose frames. Firewire cards are cheap on ebay if you don't have one. A good cheap capture, edit and dvd write program in Nero 6, also very cheap on ebay (about $20 for each). If you're trying to make a backup of a copywrited dvd that you own, dvd shrink is a good way to go. If it's not copyrighted, you can convert it to an editable .avi file using free software FlaskMPEG.

Pinnacle Studio comes with Dazzle video converter. The Dazzle allows you to import the video into the computer, and the Pinnacle will process that, and produce an MPEG. Then, you can edit the video, add effects, and menus, etc. and allows you to export it to dvd. The program and Dazzle is about $150, but I am sure the price has gone down since I purchased mine over a year ago.
