Camera into my computer?

Transfer video from camera to your computer?

  • I have a Sony Digital Video Camera Recorder, and there are videos that I would like to transfer to my HP laptop. The video aren't saved in the camera, they are on cassettes tapes that go in the digital camera. How do I transfer the video that is on those tapes from the camera to my computer? I tried using the S-video cable, and a USB cable. The computer reads the camera, but only for me to put transfer pictures to the computer. I also read something about a DV cable, which came with the camera, but there is no input on my computer for that cable. I see the output for it on the camera, but there's no input to plug it to the computer. Any ideas?

  • Answer:

You will have to use a computer that has firewire (DV Cable) connections. You could buy a firewire card to fit it in but it might not fit if the slots on the motherboard are taken. Wait, it is a laptop, you could buy a PCMCIA firewire which you stick in a PCMCIA slot on your computer.
