Can I turn a DVD Video file into a Regular Video file?

Need help getting my video off a DVD and onto my computer.?

  • I have a Mini DV camcorder that I use for a part time job. I have always taken the film I have shot and burned it to a DVD using my DVD-R. My question to you is: How can I take my burned DVD and turn it into a video/computer file on my computer. The footage has to come off the disc as my camcorder doesnt have a USB slot or cord. All it has is the power adapter and the red yellow white 3 cord adapter that plugs into the DVDr or TV. Camcorder is a JVC. ~No I am not bootlegging, want to do an online video blog using my camcorder.

  • Answer:

Most better grade camcorders will have a port on the camera generally called a 'firewire" or IEEE 1394 port). Your computer must also have a firewire card in a free slot or may already have one. This provides a good interface between the camera and the computer to pull off what you want into some sort of editing software which you can manipulate in a number of ways then save as a computer file.....For widnows generally a .WMV file. Or a Mac. is a .MOV file Good Luck
