What are videos editing software recommendations?

Uploading videos from a Finepix 10.0 MP Camera is clear, until put onto a video editing software?

• For my media project, i'm using a Fuji:Film Finepix 10.0 Mega Pixel camera, i've uploaded the videos onto the computer and when watching them in 'quicktime' they are completely clear. But i've been using the trial of sony vegas pro 9, and when i put the videos onto there they turn blurred and you can't read the text. Why is this? And also, is there any better editing software trial i could use? I need to fast forward some of my videos, I'd like an easy but effective editing software. Preferably that makes the videos as clear as they are when i first upload them. Five stars for the best answer! Thanks : ]

  There are precious few free video editing programs that are any good. Also, when you convert to video you are compressing to a moving image format which is typically not optimised for text, you could try using an Animation codec instead of H264 or DivX. Personally I would use iMovie, but one needs a Mac for that. :-)
