What's the best camcorder for professional-like movies?

With camcorders, that have built in hard drives, what format is the output files, whats the most common format

  • i am looking to get a camcorder to take movies of my family.. whats a common file format for the output file the camera records,, whats a common file that mostly all websites can upload and mostly all programs can edit, and a good compression formatt? lots of questions here i guess. i want a simple camera that takes good quality videos where i can put them to dvd real easy (home movies) and at the same time, a camera to record something interesting and then upload it yo youtube / yahoo videos, all those kinds of sites, without having to do multiple thing to get the format ready to upload.. thanks - jay

    The Sony HDR-SR12 has a 120 GB hard drive and records AVCHD. All newer video editing programs will reconize this. And when you export it as a movie from a video editing software, it changes it to .avi or something like that. Hope I helped!
