How can you fix a Flip Video?

When transferring a video from my camcorder to the computer it skips. why does it do that and how can I fix it?

  • I have a DV video recorder. I'm trying to transfer the video from the video recorder to my computer. It skips at certaing parts of the video. how can i fix it?

  • Answer:

Make sure your computer has enough RAM to be capturing video. You should have at least 1GB of RAM, if not 2. If you need more, RAM is one of the cheapest and easiest upgrades to add to your computer. You just buy it, open up the computer and stick it in. The best deals on RAM will be from sites like http://www.newegg.com or http://www.zipzoomfly.com You should also free up RAM while the capturing is taking place by closing all other programs. One more thing you can do is turn off "mirroring" the video capture on the computer screen. That is, go into the editing program's options and tell it not to display what it's capturing on the screen. This will free up system resources as well and will decrease the likelihood of glitches.

Do you see the same problem when you play the tape in the camcorder? If it's always skipping at the same points there's probably a problem with the tape itself. Cleaning the heads may help, but there are no guarantees.
