How to copy dvds on my laptop?

How to copy recordings or photos from my sony handycam model DCR-DVD705E to my computer desktop or laptop?

I have a sony handycam model DCR-DVD705 i have alot of small DVDs of the handycam all filled with recordings i want to transfer it to my desktop or laptop and then to copy them on a CD or DVD but when i put the DVD nothing comes on my computer, Please guide me how to get it done step by step .

You need to finalise the dvds before they will play back on devices other than your camcorder.
