Is there a way to recover deleted video from a hard drive video camera?
-
I had taken video from a vacation 2 years ago on a Hard Drive Video Camera and tranferred it to computer. Figuring it was safe on my computer (BIG mistake) I deleted on my camera. My external hard drive that I stored it on somehow deleted all the video. On top of that, My main computer at the time had been stricken with spyware and destroyed the main hard drive. This was a while after my hard drive deleted the video, so i dont think the spyware had anything to do with the video disappearing. I got a new computer and got a new external hard drive cuz i was uncertain whether the old one was contaminated as well. But i still have the old one. Anyway, my question is , is there any way that i can recover the video from the camera's hard drive? I have searched for a solution ever since it happened but have come up with nothing.

Answer:
First of all, do not save any new file to camera's hard drive. Connect your camera to computer. You should see camera shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer. If not, take out hard drive, and connect it to computer. Download recover software asoftech recovery ( http://www.asoftech.com/apr/ ) Install and open asoftech recovery, select the hard drive, and click 'Start' button.

I'm very sorry, but there is no way of retrieving anything you have deleted. There are several softwares claiming to recover lost data, but your data was deleted, not lost. So unfortunately your data is gone.

As long as you didn't save new data on the camera, you can recover your deleted video. here is a guide on video recovery http://www.disk-utilities.com/photo-recovery/video-recovery.html

You can try http://www.recuva.com I have had success with memory cards but I believe you can choose a hard drive. It's free and worth a try. Do a deep scan.

Probably not. I'm sorry, once it's gone, it's gone.
