What is the best format for a camcorder?

What should i do?i got a new camcorder but windowos movie maker wont import them cuz of there format?

• ok i got a new camcorder bout a year ago i got it for the soul reason of making youtube videos but i like to edit my videos and my usual program windows movie maker says it can support the format and ive messed with the settings and it does the same thing plus it was supposed to come with its own editing software and it didnt so what should i do about this? is there somthing im doing wrong with movie maker or will i have to find a new editor & if it comes to that what program?

  Yes I agree with Snowill on this, Window movie maker works with a narrow range of SD format files. I too Have Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate, it can import many files types, including most, if not all, HD file types.
