Why wont my JVC camcorder charge?

Problem with JVC GR-D728EK?

• Hi, I have the above camcorder but I haven't used it for a while, I just tried to use it again but kept getting this message: reject and reinsert tape , unit in safe guard, I called JVC and they told I have to send it to some company who told me they would charge me a non refundable £55 to tell me what is wrong with it and whether is fixable, and if I let them fix it they would include the £55 in the bill, does anyone please knows if there is a cheaper way to fix my camcorder or can I do my self, I really wanted it done for xmas so I could use it to film the kids.   usually the brace that holds the tape in has a red sticker on the side of the steel casing which pops out , after a while this gets worn outwards , so you sort of have to buckle it in wards a little bit toward the corner to get it go snug again , it is the mechanism which has a sensor on it , and this is what spits out the warning-\ when it jams then reverses the mechanism to spit the tape back out // bend the corner with the red sticker inwards slightly so it closes snug with a tape in it.
