Which is the best HD camcorder company?

  • Well my local stores have camcorders that have HD and other special features, which I am not so familiar with. They are all under 200 pounds, which seems like a good deal, but I am not just so sure which to pick. What I am looking for, since the main use of the camcorder would be for interviews: Good color capture (not faded colors) quality sound recording So here are my 4 options (brands): SONY Panasonic Canon JVC Which one meets my demands best, or are all of them good anyway?     Hi, I'm a videographer, hope I can help you. Sony and Canon are my two preferred brands, but Panasonic is mature with AVCHD (a kind of HD format that is slightly less space-consuming when you record, a.k.a you can record longer hours). You need to know that 200 pounds won't get you the cinema effect - it'd be a cheap camcorder that records what you pay for. If you really want good color, then you need 3CCD, which has nothing to do with 'HD', but it has a lot to do with the color profile. About the mic, you need an external mic for interview, because on board mic is never good enough. I suggest you to go for the one on sale and reserve your budget for an external mic.

the four you list are the genuine old guard of video. JVC is the oldest producer of home video gear, having been the inventor of VHS and EIAJ half inch before that. Canon is the newest, having produced lenses for broadcast cameras for decades, their camcorders were actually made by Sony, until the success of their XL1 camcorder convinced them that they sould design and build their own video gear. for interviews, the ability to use an external mic would be good, but rarely found in that price range. if you can get Kodak where you are, look at the Playtouch Zi10. Kodak has only recently re-entered the camcorder business, but as a matter of fact, Kodak invented the camcorder in 1981 and licensed Sony to build them.
