How do you charge a flip video camera?

HOW DO I A CHARGE DXG-566V HD VIDEO CAMERA?

  Hi Sunny: The DXG camera uses either the lithium-ion battery pack that came with it, or 4 "AAA" mini-penlite batteries (which are easy to find). So if you have trouble getting the battery pack to charge, just buy a 4-pack of AAA cells (get alkaline, at least for disposables) and you'll be ready to go. I'd invest in 8 or more AAA re-chargeable batteries and a good quick-charger (most electronic stores will sell a kit with 4 cells and the charger). Lithium-ion are the best and shoot longer, ni-cad cells are cheaper. Just don't "mix" the battery types! From reading the equipment reviews of the DXG camera, the video and still photo quality are not considered good. (And there's not even a microphone!) But for the cheap price ($150 was cheap back when it came out in 2008) you should have fun with "home movies" and YouTube uploads. The only cables listed in the review as "included" show a USB cable, and the HD component & composite video cables, so I imagine the charging was expected via USB connected to your computer (camera OFF, computer ON). You can also buy a small "USB wall charger" for around $10 for travelling without your computer. See if that will charge the battery pack. If that doesn't work, do a Yahoo!Search or Google using "DXG-566V charger" and you'll find several links for external chargers & new battery packs. LaptopTraveller.com listed their replacement battery as "Casio Exilim EX-P600 EX-Z30 EX-Z40 Pro EX-P505 (works with DXG DXG-566V)" and their charger as the same as for an "Olympus Mu-mini Digital-S", so having Casio & Olympus equivalent replacements will help in the future. hope this helps, --Dennis C.
