What is this port on the back of my panasonic pv-gs16 camcorder? It is hidden under a cover under the battery.

I removed this cover under the battery and discovered a secret port. I want to know what it is used for. Here is a link to the picture. Under the cover is a white female port with about 10 pins 5 on each side. It is a single rectangle shaped depression with the pins all facing each other not like a serial port or vga port or parallel port. more like a smaller usb port but less deep and without the plastic piece in the middle. http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/4725/cameraporthi3.jpg
