MiniDV Tapes - Does type matter??

• I recently bought a Sony HDV Camcorder and getting kind of confused: 1) Does the make matter? Should I buy Sony tapes and stick to the same type? 2) Lubricated or dry - whats the difference and how does it matter? Should I stick to one type? 3) Are expensive High Def MiniDV tapes better than normal MiniDV tapes (I will record both HD and normal footage)? Thanks

  Hey. I can't answer all your questions, but I can offer two pieces of advice: 1) Get one type and stick to it. Mixing tapes up can cause the lubricants to mix and eventually damage the tape heads. If you end up using different kinds, you should run a head cleaner through the deck, just to be safe. 2) Ask this question somewhere else (No offense).
