  The Kodak EasyShare Z1825 is not a camcorder - it is a still camera that happens to take highly compressed video. It does not have a mic-in jack. The least expensive camcorders - of which I am aware - with a mic in jack are the Canon ZR800, ZR900 and ZR930. None of these camcorders have manual audio control. The least expensive camcorders - of which I am aware - with a mic in jack AND manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC9. The field cameras used on the news typically do not use any sort of memory media - and certainly would not use flash memory like your Kodak. If they did record locally, they would use some sort of tape.
