I Have Been Making Videos On My Camera Is There Anway to hook up a microphone to the camera or get the little?

  • michrophones like in the news and record it digitally by the way my camera is a kodak easyshare z1825 Thank You

  • Answer:

The Kodak EasyShare Z1825 is not a camcorder - it is a still camera that happens to take highly compressed video. It does not have a mic-in jack. The least expensive camcorders - of which I am aware - with a mic in jack are the Canon ZR800, ZR900 and ZR930. None of these camcorders have manual audio control. The least expensive camcorders - of which I am aware - with a mic in jack AND manual audio control are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC9. The field cameras used on the news typically do not use any sort of memory media - and certainly would not use flash memory like your Kodak. If they did record locally, they would use some sort of tape. The XDCAM, HCCAM, HDV and DVCAM are typical ENG (Electronic News Gathering) camera devices for field use: http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-broadcastcameras/ Another method to get improved audio is to use a field recorder like those from M-Audio, Edirol, Zoom, Marantz, Fostex and others. Then, when you edit the video, replace the audio that cam from the camcorder with the audio from the field recorder. The "little microphone" is called a "Lavaliere". Check Amazon.com. Audio Technica makes a decent unit - but without a mic jack on your camera, it does not matter.
