A little help with a video camera?

Video camera help - Transferring Video to Laptop?

  • I have a hi-8 sony handycam ccd-trv128 ntsc and was wondering how to transfer all my home video tapes to my laptop...i was thinking it was a 6-pin to 4-pin firewire cable or a 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable. if you have this camera and have transferred video tapes before, or if are familiar with transferring video tapes to laptops, can you help me? just in case this matters, i wanted to add that this is not a digital video camera, and also the laptop im trying to transfer it to is an HP dv2715nr..

  • Answer:

The CCD-TRV128 is an analog Hi8 camcorder - so, you would need an AV capture device such as the ones discussed in this helpful guide: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/basics/transfer.php see Section 3. Analog video capturing Since you'll be transferring the videos to a laptop, your options are probably limited to a AV capture device that connects via the USB port - such as these: http://shopping.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AhdAXaq.y.9YhMWkPQUA3JYEgFoB;_ylu=X3oDMTBkamR2YmZxBHNlYwNzZWFyY2hiYXI-?p=usb+av+capture+device&did=
