How do I download video from my Sony video camera to my computer?

Video Camera Problems?

  • I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 photo and video camera. I took a few videos on it, and then I tried to download them to my computer. The still pictures turned out fine, but most of the videos are in a format called .THM. The ones that are in mpg form are mainly visualization to the audio track of the video, kind of like the audio visualization in iTunes. If it's possible, I'd like to get these videos onto my computer, and I really don't want to lose them. Help, please.

  • Answer:

when you look at the video part, there should be 2 files that look a like , one will say mvi_244(a number) then the next one will say mvi_244.thm. Your numbers will be different, anyway the one that ends in thm, is just a thumbnail that goes to the video file. You can't open it. So the best way to download videos from a digital camera is to get a card reader, they are cheap and very handy to use. You would put the card from your camera in the reader and open the reader as a drive in MyComputer, then also open MyDocuments/MyVideos (you will have 2 windows open) and drag and drop or copy and paste your videos into the file.

Get a card reader. Take the memory card out of the camera and use the card reader to copy the video files over to your computer.
