Camcorder advice: Portable to record daily life?
-
I've decided I'm gonna start recording a lot more of my life from now on. I want to pick-up a small, portable video camera that I can easily take in my backpack or pocket and takes still pictures as well. Shock-resistant and waterproof (just for Miami's constant light rain), but no cam that records in really small resolution. Size is important. I'm not sure about pocket size (as I'm afraid that the quality might suffer) but just something I can take around with me everywhere I go and won't bother me. If pocket size is achievable, then my all means please recommend so as long as it has the typical camcorder pop-out/fold-in flippable screen. I'll be uploading all my recordings to my computer daily, so something that uses a mini memory card and has good memory would be handy. Willing to pay around 250$ if necessary, but if all those details I'm looking for are achievable for cheaper (like one of those 110-150$ cams), please share such options. I just want something that can capture my life in worthy quality, you know? Nothing too fancy, just good enough so that it gets the sound and image of the moment. Also, gotta be easy to just pop out and record/capture, so small is good. Feedback greatly appreciated.

Answer:
The best video images be had come from a MiniDV tape camcorder. Every other storage media type camcorders interpolate the video, which means the video you transfer from this device; about 80% of the content of that file did not come from the lens assembly on the camcorder, but rather from electronic circuitry within the camcorder. This occurs because of the way every consumer level HD camcorders that does not use MiniDV tape media, takes video. You turn these on, press record and the camcorder takes one frame from the camcorder lens assembly, then makes 4 or 5 frames from the electronic circuitry within the camcorder then another frame from the lens and 4 or 5 frames not from the lens, this goes on and on throughout your whole video. This means do not a point a consumer level HD camcorders, that does not use MiniDV tape media, at any moving thing, as the resulting video will be mostly unwatchable. Then blend in the fact, these camcorders videos take pretty beefed up computer for editing and proper viewing. MiniDV tape camcorder is the way to go.
