Is there a way to put video from the computer onto a dvd?
-
I am trying to use a digital camera to record a video (hopefully with sound) and then I want to put that video on a dvd. I was wondering if there was a way to do that WITHOUT downloading anything or buying certain item(s). I have Windows Media Player if that could be used to do this somehow. Also, if you wanted to send a dvd by mail far distance wise, would taking it to the post office and asking them to ship it first class protect the dvd better?

Of course! You’re on Windows w/free windows movie maker* (wmm), though limited support on video formats First, the video files should be uploaded to PC: a. If video format is supported - connect digicam to PC thru USB cable (for digicam internal memory) - open wmmaker, import video files and edit b. If video format is not supported, upload thru file mgmt- windows explorer - USB-connected digicam wud appear as removable drive like drive C: - also detach memory card & slide to card reader attached to PC, also appears like drive C: - copy/paste video files from digicam & mem card to PC Folder, say myDocs/myVideos - download PRISM video converter, convert video files to .wmv for starters, free Windows Movie Maker* (XP-wmm2 & Vista-wmm6) provides simple & easy way to learn the ropes < click help for details>. Upgrade to intermediate video editing app accdg. to need & skill level http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/powerdirector-review.html video editing process >>> open wmm- start/all programs/wmm->TASK pane 1. import converted video files from PC folder 2. Edit- drag/drop files->timeline & enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles 3. Finish (render)- save Movie file, also save Project*** file 4. Share-burn to CD (if DvD, thru a DvD authoring app like DvD Flick, Nero, etc.)

You can edit the video using Windows Movie Maker and then burn a DVD using DVD Flick (it's free). I don't know where you are, but in the UK, first class means quicker, not safer. DVD's are quite tough though, I've sent / received loads through the post in just a cardboard envelope. Put them in a case and then in a jiffy bag and they'll be fine.

I'm not too good at that sort of thing but I have been experimenting with windows movie maker. You just drag the movie from your documents onto the screen and there is an option on the side toolbar that asks you where you would like to save the movie to, and you can select computer, DVD etc.
