How do you upload videos from a HDD camcorder?

• A WORKER AT BEST BUY SAID THAT MY COMPUTER WILL NOT TAKE MY VIDEOS FROM MY CAMCORDER CUZ IT IS PROBABLY A OLDER COMPUTER, IT IS A DELL LABTOP, IVE HAD IT FOR A WHILE NOW. WELL HE SAID I NEED A FIREWIRE AND ALL THIS OTHER STUFF AND THAT IT WILL COST ABOUT $600.00! NO WAY! TOO CONFUSING, SO ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS A NICE LABTOP WITH GOOD QUALITY THAT WILL TAKE MY VIDEOS, NOT OVER $1,000.00? IM LOOKING AT MY CAMCORDER AND IF THIS HELPS ANY, MY CAMCORDER SAYS ZR850 NTSC, ITS A MINI DV DIGITAL VIDEO CANON CAMCORDER. IT SAYS DC 7.4V ON THE BOTTOM

  Toshiba Stallite laptops ($400-800) come with what is called i_DV which is firewire connection. You still need video editing software. Magix Movie edit pro is a good easy one. ($59). Don't forget to buy the fire wire connection ( but be sure it is i_DV compatible cause there are two different types of firewire, the one that connects to regular desk tops computers and the one that is called i_dv that connects to laptops. Mini-DV camera is perfect for movie importing and editing on any laptop or Desktop. Actually it is the techonology that is still used by proffesional who does digital movie editing. Another great software is Sony Vegas ($89) but it is a little advanced. (just to let you know I do digital movie editing for 5 years now, and I am editing on only E-machine that I bough 4 years ago.. so your laptop might be actually good enough, but you still need the connection) Good luck.
