What is the nicest looking video camera?

I am looking for a cheap video camera, what do you recommend?

  • I wish to buy a video camera but I don't want to spend lots of money. What is one of the cheapest that can be bought but still has acceptable quality? I know that flip Video's are really cheap. What are the quality of these like? Also, I have a Samsung L830 compact camera. Should I just use this to do any video's or are dedicated recorders better than these?

    I have a flip video camera and would recommend it to anyone. It's hard to beat for price (I paid about $100 as I recall) and total ease of use. It's small and takes pretty decent quality video given it's price and size. I like that it has a microphone built into it and the little lever that pops out and plugs into your computer makes it so simple to use. flips will have quite good quality. Your main concerns are bitrate and lens quality. You will get highest quality using a tape based digital camcorder because the compression rate on these tapes is very low. Even though this takes up a lot of space, you don't always notice it because it is stored on a tape. This will be more difficult to work with however due to the large size of the files. I would recommend either a flip or a small camera like that for the best bang for your buck. The quality will be fairly good, but not crystal clear. If you get a camera with autofocus then your quality will improve then as opposed to a fixed lens camera, but again this adds cost.
