How to fix my Sony video camera?

CiberLink PowerDirector 9....Cant capture video with my video camera?

  • I just bought CyberLink Powerdirector 9 for my computer but i cant get it to work with my video camera. I have Windows XP. I have a Sony HandyCam DRC-TRV280. It connects to the computer with a USB cable. It has a regular USB end that goes to the computer and then a mini USB end that goes to the camera. Ive used this camera and USB cable setup in Windows Movie Maker for 6 years and it works fine, but im wanting a better video software so i bought PowerDirector. I plug my video camera into the computer and click capture on powerdirector and nothing happens. The only other plug ins i have on my video camera are a yellow 3.5 mm jack that says AV out, i have a rectangle one that says DV and then the mini USB, which i assume is an out. I don't know if i have the software set up for the right settings for my camera, but i have no idea how to change any settings. I even tried to capture the video in Windows Movie Maker and then import it to PowerDirector. That worked but now my video has no sound. Does anyone use this software and know how to fix this? Serious answers only PLEASE!

  • Answer:

You need to start transferring your videos via the Firewire port to a firerwire (IEEE1394) port mounted in your computer. Not A USB port Camcorder firewire to USB is a waste of money. You can get cards for both Laptop and Tower for about $30
