Is the casio camera compatible with windows movie maker?

How do I get the videos from my video camera to be compatible with windows movie maker?

  • i can't do anything with the videos from my camera except play them on windows media player, It won't let me upload them to windows movie maker because it says "could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from." or any other software except sony software that I download because that's the type of camera it is and that takes for ever to convert with.

  • Answer:

If any video editing software came with your camera, try installing it and import your video files from there. Windows Movie Maker, although it is freeware, I dislike how it supports so little file types and can compress your videos into really low-quality footage. So skip WMM and try another editor. Also, if your raw movie files inside your camera are very large, try cutting them into smaller clips if the camera has that feature. Once they are divided, download a fast media converter and use that.

It would be a lot more helpful if you told us the model of the Sony camcorder... Since you have already gotten the videos on to the computer (you told us you can play them with Windows Media Player), that rules out DVD or MiniDV camcorders. That leaves hard disc drive or flash memory based camcorders. Since you said it takes forever to convert, that tells me that it is a high definition comcorder that captures AVCHD format high definition video. This is very highly compressed. As you have learned, Windows MovieMaker cannot deal with AVCHD (MTS or MT2S) files directly. Your only other options are to buy the new versions of Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere that say they can deal with AVCHD files.

I don't like Movie Maker because it has many errors. I don't mean to insult you or your computer, just that there are better video editors out there. Good luck. I made a list here for you. - Sony Vegas http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro - Camtasia Studio http://www.download.com/Camtasia-Studio/3000-13633_4-10665109.html - Windows Live Movie Maker http://download.live.com/moviemaker

Little dog- excellent deductive reasoning. If he's right and you have AVCHD, use the software that came with your camera. It will be slow, so make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. Search online for emerging software that can convert this file format to .wmv. Check with microsoft if they've released a new version of WMM that can handle this format.

As long as you can play it in windows media player it should work. Try using StashBox, free video editing, sharing, and storage software from StashSpace. They support many different video formats and are very easy to use. Check them out at http:///www.stashspace.com or give them a call.
