How to record screen with sound at the same time?

If I record a video with a webcam, and sound with a recording mic at the same time, which sound would be used?

• I'm looking into getting a webcam to make YouTube videos while I wait to get an actual camcorder, along with legit sound equipment and all. So...since I've never used a webcam or recording microphone, I was wondering if anybody could help me out. If I record a video of me singing into the recording microphone, while the mic is recording, what would I have to do, if anything, for the recording mic's sound to be used in the video rather than the webcam mic? Confusing, I know..and I apologize. I'm just really confused and hoping for some kind of help :) haha Thanks guys

  There are 2 ways to do this 1) Get a camcorder with a MIC port. Get a Microphone, mixer and the needed cords to hook it all together. Record the audio to the storage media. 2) use a Digital Audio Recorder (DAR) to record your audio. Again, use a Microphone and Mixer to connect to the DAR. Then record your singing with both the DAR and a camcorder, then mix in post with a NLE You would use a mixer to allow you to add microphones, tape decks, audio sources and then mix those sources so no one source is louder than the others as required. When using a device to capture audio that is not your camcorder, use this tip to be able to SYNC your audio and video together once both are put on a timeline for video editing purposes. Standing close to Microphone, in front of your camcorder, with both recording devices recording the video and audio, CLAP, LOUDLY. Now so long as the recorders stay recording, you have a sync point so when you get back to the computer, it is much easier to sync the audio and video together.
