Why won't my Sony Camcorder turn on?

The LCD backlight of my sony camcorder is not functioning. Does anyone know how to turn the backlight on?

• My daughter was pressing the touch screen, later the monitor appeared so dim, hitting the backlight button still doesn't work.

  Hi there, I am unsure about your problem. do you mean the backlight switch on the cam corder itself ??. If so it is located just above the LCD screen on the left hand side of the camcorde. O.K. mine is DCR-TRV33E and regarded as an old model now. but I checked my instruction manual and also googled your question and they said it was in the same place as mine on most cam corders.. Focus and BackLight buttons are forward of the LCD screen on the left side, with other buttons - including an Easy (fully auto) button and a Flash activiation button just behind the LCD. A large Zoom rocker However, as I understand it.. the back light is only really for use when the image you are shooting requires an additional lighting effect... If you look through your camcorder at an object and then press the backlight button you will see what I mean.. If you mean the LCD brightness then open up you lcd screen click on the fn button go to MENU scroll down to the screen (on mine it's the 3rd camcorder image down) which is the LCD screen you will see LCD B.L. press Exec at the bottom of the screen Highlight it and choose either BRT (which is bright ) or (normal ). and choose what you want press Exec at the botttom of the screen to confirm your choice and exit.
