Why can't i see my SD card pictures?

MAC: I Cant see my videos from my SD-CARD (video camera). Just the photos.?

  • I Cant see my videos from my SD-CARD (video camera) on my MAC. I'm just able to see the photos/pictures I took. The videos appeal like a grey card symbol in the finder...when I click on it, it asks me to choose an application to open it, but there's no application that is able to..How can I watch my video camera videos? Are there cameras or SD-CARDS which only work with microsoft?

    Since you did not tell us the manufacturer or model of the camcorder, it is imposssible to know for sure - but the video is likely in a format that needs to be converted - transcoded - before QuickTime can deal with it. You have some options... Download and install VLC player. That *should* help for the playback. If you want to edit (in iMovie or FinalCut), then conversion to something more useful is needed... HandBrake from www.handbrake.fr or MEPG Streamclip from www.squared5.com can get the video to MOV or MP4 format. The same issue would happen with Windows - so you are not missing anything.
