How to get files from camcorder to computer?

How do you get video files off of a DVD-RW?

  • So, today is my birthday and my parents got me a Camcorder. Canon DC210 if anyone cares. So It works like a camcorder but the videos are on a DVD-RW. I want to get the videos off so I can edit them. But I can't figure it out! How do I get the files saved onto my computer? Is there a program I need and if so what is it? Also is there the imitation of this program online?

Try it this way Use a programme called VideoStudio - you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to 'finalise' the mini DVD your camera manual will tell you how to do that - you should note though that once you have finalised a disc you will not be able to use it again or add further videos to it. Inside VideoStudio you select "Insert DVD/DVD-VR" and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it - add lots of different videos together cut out bits you don't want - add titles/music/narration - If you wish you can then output a file to e-mail or upload to Youtube etc. - and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.
