What HD camcorders are compatible with Mac?

  The "video look rubbish" because of the person using the camcorder - not because of any compatibility issues with iMovie11. While it is possible the "video look rubbish" because of how iMovie11 is used, most likely due to compression from the camcorder - or when exporting from iMovie11, the actual application will still not be at fault - but the person not knowing how to use the editing application. I stopped suggesting hard drive based camcorders a long time ago because of their known problems with vibration and high altitude not allowing them to record anything to the hard disc drive. Beyond this: Step 1: Establish a budget. Step 2: See what camcorders from Sony, Canon or Panasonic (or even JVC) fit your budget. Step 3: Flip a coin. For the most part, camcorders in the same $ range will provide similar video quality. Assuming your Mac is relatively new - made within the last couple of years - has at least 4 gig RAM and LOTS of available hard drive space, pretty much any consumer camcorder less than $4,000 you purchase today will work just fine.
