How do I convert Mpeg2 to DV from my SX63 camcorder?

  • My dad owns a macbook pro 15'', and I am going to get an SX63 camcorder which records using mpeg 2. I might also get a mac mini for myself in a few months, so I was wondering if there's a FREE program I could use to convert it to DV for iMovie.

Handbrake conversion software for Mac, Windows and Linux http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php The other is MPEG Streamclip, which has a version for Mac and PC users http://www.squared5.com For this one to work you do need to have a copy of Quicktime on your system. You can get that from http://www.apple.com/quicktime I think MPEG Streamclip is easier to use but Handbrake has advantages as well.

i know a guide on how to import mpeg2 to iMovie. http://www.bigasoft.com/articles/how-to-import-mpeg-to-imovie.html but the software in this guide is shareware which has free trial version so i don't whether it helps for you or not
