DVD question.... someone please help!!!?
-
I had a dvd in my camera (sony handycam). the camera was in my purse and the dvd came loose inside the camera and the door wouldn't open. so i finally got the door open and the dvd out. well i didnt get to finalized the dvd before all this happened so now when i put it back in the camera to do that it says it needs to be reformatted. well i had another dvd that wasnt sony that said the same thing so i used it just to test it out and sure enough it erased everything on it. i dont want to risk erasing everything on it because its a 1st bday party and obviously i cant just have the same party again! so my question is... how can i get this dvd to play now?? either in a dvd player or computer or just anything! i don't need to make any changes to it. i just want to be able to watch it! the dvd type is the teal color "Sony DVD+RW". if that matters. i dont really know much about them. so can someone please help with this... ive havent had much help solving this problem... :(

Answer:
Because the camcorder that captured the video onto THAT disc is needed to finalize THAT disc seems to be having a problem, getting another (temporary) DVD based camcorder won't work (such as taking the disc to BestBuy and using their display camcorders). From my perspective, you need to get a disc utility like ISOBuster on your computer. This should allow you to read the contents of the disc, then, with a DVD ripper like HandBrake you can rip the video and your computer video editor can read the translated file. Of course, all this assumes that your computer has a drawer loading DVD optical drive - hope fully one that reads and writes DVDs. Once you get the videon into your computer, you can then burn that video to a normal sized DVD for playback in a DVD player connected to your TV. If your computer's DVD drive is a slot loader, do not put the camcorder DVD into it. You may need to invest in an external drawer loading DVD drive. Actually, if the computer's DVD drive is read only, you might want to get an external DVD drive so you can write to DVDs too. Good luck.
