How do I edit the audio in video clips?

How do you edit video clips?(for a complete noob)?

• I was assigned to make a video for my class(which is completely retarded as not everyone knows how to go about that -_-) and so we have a simple script and plotline of our short video, so now what? what equipment do we need? how to I put it on one of our computers? how can we cut certain footage and make smooth transitions? how do we work with audio if we felt like adding music? and we want to add a clip from teh interwebz at the end of it, so how would we do that? sorry for the long question but i will give best answer

  You need a camera that shoots video or a camcorder. It depends on what kind of camera/camcorder you are using. You will need some editing software and all software comes with a HELP section. It will help you through editing, adding transitions, music and cutting out video. When you figure out what camera/camcorder and editing software you are using, post another question and include make and model of your camera/camcorder and editing software.
