What Is A Good Video Editor? Movie Help!?

Okay, so i downloaded a movie on iTunes. I have a project due and i'm planning on making a movie. Can i somehow, using some kind of free software, edit the video??? Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't accept the movie. Help Please!

final cut and avid are really good but they cost thousands final cut has a 70$ beta version... P.C. suck at making vids unless you shove out some big cash i've worked in my high school studio and am a t.v. major in college non of the two studio i have worked in ever used P.C. macs have imovie which is very user friendly and good basic editing so unless you got a mac your not gonna want to do a video try a power point thats what the P.C. are good for.
