What kind of Camcorder should I buy?

  • Thank you all for taking the time to answer my questions. I always have more because I like to learn all I can when I know very little about something, especially before I give it as a gift. There was one thing in the reply from Jew_Fro, you said mini dv is the best and hard drive is the worst. I know the origninal camcorder which I have, it takes a small tape which Ii pop into an adapter and put into the VCR to watch, the newer Mini DV Digital, and the one that records right onto a CD. I don't know about the 'hard drive' camcorder. How does the 'hard drive' camcorder differ from the others? I want to be sure I know what I am doing when I make this purchase. I would rather sound seriously uninformed here where I can get some help than where I am about to spend $500.00 and can make a bad purchase Thank you all again for the answers.

  • Answer:

The hard drive camcorder records onto the camcorder with no tapes or CD's. It usually comes with a cord to hook right up to the computer, but since it is new it might crash and lose all of your video. Mini DV is the best video format.

Well I have a hard drive cam and its the easiest to transfer to your pc plug the usb and copy and paste as for the other two formats youll need to rip or stream capture it. I would suggest the hd cam but just go to your local electronics store and talk to an exp rep.
