Are SD/MMC cards the same as regular SD cards?

Video Camera (Kodak Playsport) Fills SD Cards, Files Can't Be Seen Or Deleted Afterwards!!!?

  • Kodak Playsport worked great for a year... Now whenever I record to an SD card, when the SD card fills up, erasing the files does not empty the SD card memory!!! It's past it's warranty what do I do? I've tested 3 different SD cards...they are all "full" according to their "properties", so I can't use them, but my computer shows them as completely empty of files!!! There is no way to clear space on them!!! Why is my Kodak Playsport Camera rendering SD cards useless? The video camera is past it's 1 year warranty what do I do?

  • Answer:

you are suppossed to use the software provided with the camera for file management. the files are the "hidden" type so they are not visable to an ordinary computer file manager and are also protected from deletion by a file manager. if you know a computer nerd, then you can hack the file protection and work that way but it is dangerous and you can end up crashing the cameras own file management system. imho it is not worth the potential problems in circumventing the software that kodak provides to manage the playsport.

After you download and backup your videos you must format the card in your camcorder. Refer to your manual for formatting, also make sure your card is not locked. Check on the slider on the side of the card. You shouldn't just delete the videos.
