How to open a flip camcorder?

How do you view your flip camcorder videos?

• I plug the camcorder into the computer,the flip's screen says its connected,but nothing shows up on the computer.Can you tell me how I can view my videos?Thanks@

  when i plug mine in the internal drive shows up as a new device (in windows it's a new drive letter, possibly e: or f: ...) the video files are located in a directory "DCIM" in that drive. You can play them directly from that directory or copy them to your local drive in your computer. I normally move them to the computer to free up space in the camera's memory. If you have the HD Flip Ultra it has some windows software installed on the flip itself which should autoinstall (if "autorun" is active on your system) That program has a utility to copy the files to your computer, play videos and do some basic editing. I never use it but it's there and does work. If nothing happens in windows you may have "autorun" turned off for the USB devices or you may be using an unpowered USB slot that doesn't have enough power to run the camera. (check the camera display, it may have an error message on it if that;s the case). If you don't want to turn on autorun you can still run the utility by opening explorer and browsing to the flip device, doubleclick on the "autorun.exe" file and the program should start up. (bear in mind i don't recall that utility existing in the earlier flip models, so if you have one of the original flips there may not be a utility at all; you just need to copy the movie files over and view them with realplayer/media player or any other video player you have)
