Can anyone recommend a video camera?

• i'm in the market for a mid range camcorder. i don't have a ton to spend, but i am also willing to invest in order to get a quality camera. can anyone recommend what to look for? what are the advantages/disadvantages of mindiscs, harddrives, etc. any brand that tends to be better?

  The big disadvantage of getting the DVD camcorders is that the files are hard to edit later. If you NEVER want to edit your movies, they aren't bad. Also, DVD camcorders are typically limited to about 20 minutes of recording per disk. Hard drive based camcorders are generally only a disadvantage if you want to record more than 7 hours at a time (time varies depending on the size of the drive). In terms of brands, Panasonic is one of my favorites because they offer 3CCD camcorders that provide some of the best color in consumer camcorders. Sony and Canon are also good choices. In general, if you ask 100 people what their favorite camcorder brand is, they will each tell you the brand they own.
