What's a good camcorder?

I want to find a good camcorder to record random things such as nature, friends, and actual videos. I had a really nice Sony HandyCam DCR-SR45 but the battery leaked inside of it and ruined it! So since christmas is coming up soon, my mom said she would buy me a new camcorder. Though I do like the DCR-SR45, I am not sure if I want to get another one because I would be depressed if the same thing happened again! I need it to be under 300 dollars or around... and I would love it to have good quality (HD), good memory, I don't care if it has flash or not, I can live without it, good battery, connects to the computer, and whatever else makes a good camcorder! :D

The canon vixia hf r100 is awesome 1080p mic jack 20x zoom alot of features and only 380 $( you can find 250$ in some authorized resellers online) the cheapest camcorder on the market :D
