How can I connect a TCP/IP camera to the PC?

My camera does not connect to the PC, Why?

  • I have a panasonic nv gs21 mini dv camera and have a firewire to usb cable, on which the firewire end goes into the camera and usb end of the wire goes into laptop. but when i try to connect it, nothing but an error pops up say USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED, why is this?

Because USB-to-firewire cable/converter/adapters don't work. The camcorder is a firewire device - not a USB device. So far, all is working properly. Hopefully, your computer has an expansion slot (PCMCIA or ExpressCard) so you can add a proper firewire port. If not, then you can get an analog-digital converter. Connect the camcorder's AV-out to the A/D converter and connect the A/D converter to the computer using USB. Video quality will be reduced... Elgato, Roxio and bunches of other companies make them.
